Karen Perl expands her vision in her third exhibition working with Aron Packer. She continues her exploration of neighborhoods, intersections, and industrial areas. Initially painting on-site, she then takes photographs to help jog her memory to make the final compositions, in her studio. The approach to the canvas is similar to her past work - editing out certain signage, keeping the horizon line low, and excluding people. However, the format is larger now, metaphorically expanding the subject. In her artistıs statement, Perl speaks about the feeling and the emotion of how she responds when choosing her locations. She believes this emotion gets lost when rendering quickly on-site doing a small study. In the studio, Perl recreates the memory of the moment to evoke the experience of seeing. It is this sense of quiet desolation that makes one feel Perlıs intentional moods.
